This position is perfect for the established or budding entrepreneur who needs assistance, motivation, and guidance in a stable, well-managed and professional environment in order to progress towards stability and the "next level" as an independent artist. Move yourself and your discriminating clientele to our exclusive, celebrated personal studio! You'll be immediately rewarded...

BONUS: Fill in your personal calendar with salon clients and receive commissioned income checks twice monthly! Receive periodic bonuses and regular (generous) retail sales commissions too!

2-5 days rental, paid monthly. Rates and deposit are commensurate with our location and status, yet reasonable and affordably scheduled. Your commission checks offset your monthly rent!

Everything provided, including house beverages, hot towels, shaving supplies, waxes, hair/scalp/face treatments and more for your clients and all backbar and station products.

BONUS: Sell our house retail products to your personal clients for your own profit, and use our dispensary products (color, developers, etc) if needed. You'll be conveniently billed later.

3+ years post-graduate experience is requested for this position, with preference given to those candidates who have already completed an apprenticeship. Applicants who have not completed an apprenticeship are welcome to apply.

Applicants must demonstrate a high level of competence in color, cuts, and finish work, both male and female clients.

This Is A Mutually Paid-For Apprenticeship

This is a mutually paid-for apprenticeship. Scott spends as much on you, as a selected apprentice as you'll pay in tuition. You'll easily and affordably pay for the valuable tuition you receive via a stepped, monthly pay plan, and we pay you a modest commission when serving house clientele. You'll also receive generous tippage during your participation in the program. Additional performance bonuses are also offered, as well as product sales commissions and sales bonuses. Typically, apprentices earn more than they actually pay out in commission during their apprenticeship, and for the right candidate Scott will personally guarantee a minimum commission income equivalent to your own tuition payouts over the 6-month apprenticeship. 

This apprenticeship prepares you, and qualifies you for, a marked increase in your earned billable rates, and culminates in your opportunity to lease a chair at at M. Scott studio that's ultimately the same rate as your final tuition payout- easily providing you the opportunity to assume your dream of independence while working within a professional, supportive environment of select peers and excellent leadership.  Your affordable chair lease is offset with twice-monthly commission payments to offset our expense! (See Below).

· Apprenticeship term is only 6 months.  Cost is $3,000 and is conveniently made via monthly installments... all while earning service commissions.  Your income during your apprenticeship will exceed your expenses!

During the term of your apprenticeship you'll be offered the opportunity to grow your personal clientele and serve them in your apprentice chair RENT-FREE!  Scott will even assist and mentor you in building your own branding and client growth!

Full and Part-Time opportunities are available. A preference for daytime availability and some evenings is a current focus, as well as stylists with make-up proficiency. Applicants with a full or partial portfolio of their work and resume, and who present a professional appearance, practice and demeanor, and who view their art as a career profession and not a vocation or avocation are preferred. Candidates with a proficiency in finishing and dressage are particularly welcome.​

GENERALLY

• All applicants, including Apprentice candidates,  must hold a current Utah Cosmetology License to be considered.
  
• All Associate Stylists in the studio are 1099 Independent Contractors (no taxes are withheld for you).   As a licensed professional, you'll need to consider long-form taxes and the use of an accountant.
  
• At least two informative in-person interviews can be expected.
  
• A demonstration, working interview should be expected.  For this, you'll need to procure a model that will fit the demonstration parameters asked for (generally, blow-out and finishing on long hair). 
  
• An additional, working interview may be required.  This is generally required to demonstrate your coloring skills should your portfolio not sufficiently showcase this talent.
  
• All staff are bound by the studio's Rules of Professional Conduct, and various House Rules, Policies, and Procedures (generally regarding conduct, presentation, Sequence of Service, etc.)  Some information about our House Policies (in particular those related to privacy and professional client contact) may be gleaned by reviewing those communicated to our clients, HERE.
  
• ALL Associates are required to sign a binding, standard Independent Contractor Agreement that contains typical terms related to client privacy and relations, non-disclosures, non-compete, recruitment, solicitation, commercial theft and other basic caveats and conditions.
